Born in Moscow, raised in\u00a0Tel Aviv, living\u00a0in Berlin. Over the five\u00a0years, from festival to art shows, Mary Ocher has become a\u00a0rather\u00a0prominent character in the European queer music world\u00a0thanks to her stunning voice, unsettling\u00a0lyrics and out-of-this-world\u00a0live\u00a0Performance. \"EDENCover_klein\"<\/a>The previous album\u00a0\u201cWar Songs\u201d\u00a0was released on Haute Areal<\/i>. There’s\u00a0a way to write pop music which is still intellectually stimulating.\u00a0 Mary\u00a0Ocher\u00a0does just this with\u00a0her second album release\u00a0Eden.\u00a0It has been\u00a0produced by Canadian Rock\u00a0& Roll guru King Khan (producer of the Black Lips\u00a0among other acts) and recorded in his legendary Moon Studios.Its\u00a0existence is a paradox in itself. The album contradicts the State of the music\u00a0industry today, in its\u00a0anti-thesisness to everything that’s marked as\u00a0„sell-able“ these days: it’s raw,\u00a0weird, lo-fi, minimalist and\u00a0analog;\u00a0 existentialist pop. It is influenced by anything from kraut rock („The\u00a0Road“) to oldschool psyche-delia („No Lesson Learned“) to\u00a0ambient and\u00a0cites anything from Nico to Brian Eno, via Suicide, Suzi\u00a0Quatro, Sparks and Lene Lovich.You will\u00a0find guitar-driven folk tunes („Sweet Charity“) next to grim piano\u00a0ballads („The Android Sea“),\u00a0garage („Baby Indiana“) and\u00a0towards the end it loosens itself in four\u00a0minimal electronic pieces compiled\u00a0into three tracks:\u00a0The Thunderbird Tetralogy.\u00a0These meditative, spheric\u00a0Ornaments lead us to a level of\u00a0evolution where even the voice is\u00a0lost.\u00a0Eden\u00a0is about life in various stages of degeneration of the human\u00a0race: greed,\u00a0xenophobia, remains of colonialism. \"941207_10151428924221643_539951754_n\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But the thunderbird is a phoenix, it rises\u00a0from its own\u00a0ashes:\u00a0\u201eIn death there can be\u00a0life.
